PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

A senior lawyer who is a highly qualified attorney handling complex legal matters and projects on behalf of the Company.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Under minimal supervision, handles myriad commercial and procurement matters in support of all business units, including general legal advice, contract review, drafting, negotiation; addresses warranty, breach, service level and other performance issues; evaluates both legal and business risks and advises clients, accordingly; and provides guidance and training on general and emergent commercial issues. 
  • Projects / duties as assigned


JOB SCOPE

 

  • Works independently and with other attorneys on complex commercial matters with Business Units and outside counsel
  • Demonstrates superior judgment in the legal and business context
  • Demonstrates ability and willingness to solve complex, difficult problems and be very pro-active in doing so

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in Illinois, Maryland, Pennsylvania or Washington, D.C. 
  • At least 5 to 8 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years of professional experience in commercial matters 
  • Requires excellent legal analytical and drafting abilities and ongoing, extensive knowledge of commercial and information technology law and contracts
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; to read and analyze legal materials and other data; to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines; and to provide realistic risk assessments and practical advice to clients

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of regulated utilities, IT infrastructure licensing, governmental contracts and grant considerations are a plus
