Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

GENERAL:

Performs activities relating to designing, building, testing, implementing and maintaining IT Real-Time solutions and processes for Exelon Utilities (EU) under guidance of Manager.  Provides technical expertise and demonstrates leadership supporting high quality delivery and high availability operational support of IT solutions.  Informs IT teams and business personnel of technical solutions by weighing advantages of standards, market availability of products, risks and benefits of technology designed to meet business requirements.  Leads, coordinates peers and assigns tasks to subordinates.  Able to work independently under minimal or general supervision.  Operates and performs under NERC/CIP compliancy guidelines and requirements.

SPECIFIC:

- Provide 24x7 applications operational support including system fixes, minor enhancements to various Real Time systems (vendor packages and custom built), storm activity support, and resolve system and customer issues in a timely manner.

- Support system security and comply with security standards and hardening requirements.

- Support the Manager in executing system life cycle upgrades and provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to project teams by analyzing requirements, preparing use cases, and executing project plans as applicable.

- Perform impact analysis to various problems/requirements, recommend solutions/workarounds and follow the operational life cycle to promote fixes into production environment.

- Partner with business clients and vendors to construct, deploy, operate, and support various solutions in accordance with company standards (e. g. security, NERC compliance, architecture).

- Create, assign, and track completion of detailed activities/tasks across various teams, and expect to work under minimal supervision.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Applies leadership and technical expertise and/or support during day-to-day operational activities associated with maintaining high performance and reliability of Transmission and Distribution EU Real-Time systems and applications.  Performs analysis, troubleshooting, testing and configuring of IT systems and applications.  This role will have key responsibilities in maintaining and supporting Transmission-level EU Real-Time systems and related applications in the Application Portfolio. 25%

- Ensures appropriate implementation of technology across heterogeneous environments.  Utilizes best practices and leadership ability to improve products and services.  Measures and increases system performance and consistency between platforms.  Provides release testing management, quality assurance and delivery acceptance.  Works within a team environment, exercising effective leadership and communication skills while sharing knowledge with peers.  Practices organizational skills by demonstrating proficiency in developing technical documentation and training material.  Maintains knowledge base and information repository to be shared with peers and other IT groups. 25%

- Maintains direct engagement with business and IT partners, providing technical knowledge and business acumen within own discipline and function.  Collaborates with business unit clients to create business cases and project charters.  Produces and compiles analytical data used to perform trending and issue analysis.  Proactively builds business knowledge leading to effective and innovative IT solutions.  Develops a proficiency of Transmission and Distribution Operations workflow process to support business operations.  Leads and develops improvements to technical platforms used by EU Transmission Operations to streamline workflows and increase data quality and consistency. 20%

- Builds and maintains knowledge base of new technologies or technological opportunities.  Assists IT community to appropriately plan the introduction of new innovative technologies and/or identify the most appropriate technology choices to accomplish goals by utilizing Exelon’s standard governance process as outlined in the Management Model. 15%

- Demonstrates leadership ability in managing small project life-cycle implementation.  Leads team on delivery of technical solutions during planned events and troubleshooting efforts during unplanned events.  Able to function in a virtual or physical environment. 15%

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science or related field) and 5 – 8 years' experience (IT infrastructure design, application design, [cloud computing], disaster/recovery, etc.) or 9 – 12 years equivalent job experience.

- Appropriate technical skills:  vendor software management, custom application development

- General practices such as developing functional requirements and business process flow

- Strong problem solving skills and creativity

- Excellent presentation and communications skills (written and verbal).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Package Software Management: Managing vendor SCADA packages (e.g. OSI Monarch, GE, SE, etc.) troubleshooting, assessment, and software deployments (includes strong testing and NERC compliance adherence)

- Familiarity with Software Programming: Visual Studio Environment (C, C#, ASP), Web/Application Server development (.NET/Java), relational database (Oracle, SQL Server), UNIX and Windows Scripting

- General knowledge of business practices and processes in Utility Transmission & Distribution Operations

- Strong problem solving skills and creativity

- Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)

- Previous NERC compliance experience

-Support and lead small projects associated with the EU Distribution and Transmission Real-Time portfolio.

-Leads troubleshooting efforts resulting in technical solutions designed to resolve applications issues.

-Promotes knowledge within IT peer groups and EU clients.

-Participates in technological innovation to drive new business opportunities and solve complex business problems.

-Leadership capability with ability to work under minimal supervision.

-Performs this service in support of the EU Distribution and Transmission organization and IT BSC Real Time Systems.
