The assigned work location can be at any of the Exelon Utilities located in IL, MD, PA, DE, DC, or NJ.

Responsible for governance and oversight of learning organization and performance improvement processes.   Develops the strategic direction for performance improvement and development of innovative solutions in support of performance improvement.  Provides guidance to senior leadership on priorities and areas of concern and assisting organizations within Exelon to improve safety, environment and human performance. Provides advanced problem-solving analysis/insights in support of safety, environmental and human performance and integration with training programs.

Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


- Facilitate and set aligned governance standards for the programs, processes, tools, software platforms, metrics, etc for the Human Performance Core Function and Corrective Action Program, Event Prevention, Continuous Improvement, and Self-Assessment Management Controls.  Facilitate development of long term strategies for performance improvement.

- Oversight of learning organization and performance improvement processes.  Monitor core function health, identify performance gaps, and drive business plan initiatives.

- Support implementation of performance improvement systems for data capturing, data analysis, metrics, applications associated with performance improvement.

- Manage and analyze performance to facilitate business units to identify and report on information and trends to support compliance process and performance improvements and work with the business units to develop self-assessment programs and protocols, as appropriate.  Engage operating companies in performance analysis to take action on performance declines.

- Review and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships and strategies including organizational partnerships to improve performance and Exelon’s reputation.

- Provide periodic performance summaries for Exelon senior management, Safety Councils and Safety Peer Groups.



  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental engineering, science, information technology or equivalent and a minimum of 7 years of experience in electric utility related work.
  • Experience with leading teams.
  • Experience with data analytics
  • Experience with performance improvement processes
  • Experience with technology solution implementation
  • Knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations, safety management systems, environmental management system, and auditing standards.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and project management skills.
  • Maintain required training, examination, and fitness for duty required for access at nuclear stations and utility systems.


  • Knowledge and experience with ISO 14001 standard
  • Knowledge and experience with the ISO 45001 standard
  • Lead implementation of a database or technology implementation project 



Scope of role:

- Reports to the Exelon Vice President, Corporate Safety, Training and Environment.

Interfaces with various level of facility and management/executive personnel throughout Exelon and with business unit senior management.

- Manages corporate resources, including contractors and internal personnel.

- Acts independently, with the highest level of integrity, to provide reasonable assurance that facilities and operations are managed in compliance with all health and safety laws and regulations and Exelon policies and procedures and that appropriate safety management systems are in place to maintain compliance.

- Represents Exelon in industry peer groups (EEI, NSC, EPRI ) to the Exelon external engagement strategy and program improvements.

- Provides governance and oversight of Exelon organizations to help create a safer workplace for employees, improve risk management, reduce potential liabilities, and adverse publicity.

- Required to travel (approximately 30% of the time).
