PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

  • Subject matter expert on electric distribution system inspections and reliability.  Technical lead responsible for maintaining the highest level of quality, safety and performance in our drone based distribution asset inspection process.  SME for distribution overhead inspections.  In depth knowledge of distribution system components, identification and prioritization of faults, overhead  component theory of operation, sectionalization, and reliability improvement recommendations.  Help to establish procedures, train operations specialists, lead missions ensuring safety and schedule commitments are achieved.  Innovator driven to advance the automation of the inspection process leveraging leading edge drone, robotic, IoT, and data communication systems technologies.      
  • Lead Operations Specialists leads UAV/Robotic asset inspection missions.  The role is key to supporting all business objectives of AeroLabs Product Line Managers, provides overall support of projects end-to-end for AeroLabs Operations Team, and oversees the assigned field teams.   
     
  • Creates then implements Company and departmental policies, initiatives, procedures & guidelines to satisfy corporate, business unit, municipal and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead technical resource for advancement for AeroLabs operations.  Responsible for the initiation, research, development, and approval of robotic hardware, software, operating, and maintenance, plus work practices, tools, and equipment to support various internal/external businesses with their specific use case applications. Works collaboratively and proactively with OEM personnel, UAV management, external vendors, other utilities, and training Operational staff to initiate, research, design, evaluate, and develop work processes and tools that enhances overall safety, increases productivity, and reduce operational costs. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Support the Product Line Managers that lead the AeroLabs offerings in Generation and Utility services
  • Mission Planning: Develop mission plans, pre-mission preparations, perform data collection, data processing, perform equipment/system repair, perform the assembly, integration and test of equipment/systems, and overall support of projects end-to-end for Aerolabs Operations.
  • Field Operations: Leads assigned field-side operational mission, manages associated assets, and oversee the assigned field team
  • Inspection Results: Record inspection results accurately. Ensure all Mission records are logged, errors noted, and field documents available to produce actionable metrics. Responsible for inspection data chain of custody
  • Research, test, and develop field work practices, procedures, tools, equipment, and materials for various business unit functional areas.
  • Ability to recognize potential HW/SW problems, trouble-shoot urgent field situations, escalate as needed, and communicate potential solutions. Coordinate with OEM Maintenance, Operations and various teams to resolve
  • Maintain a critical eye for technical quality control of images obtained to the final product, ensuring it adheres to the quality standards set by AeroLabs



Qualifications

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum:


  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years’ utility operations experience or in lieu of degree 3-7 years’ utility operational experience
  • Ability to develop, and maintain effective working relationships with customers, peers, subordinates, and management.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain FAA Remote pilot part 107 certification
  • Consistent demonstration of safety as a personal and organizational value
  • Technical, analytical, and organizational skills along with strong demonstrated oral and written skills
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office and other Windows based applications

Preferred:


  • Supervisory experience, including second line supervision level, project management, team direction, peer challenging, and senior leadership interface.
  • AUVSI Level 3 UAV Operator 

POSITION SCOPE


The Sr Operations Specialist utilizes project management skills daily as he/she interfaces with various departments and levels of employees while executing multiple tasks targeted towards improving and aligning mission strategy, procedures, tools, and equipment that focus on driving industry-leading safety and productivity. Projects include assigning/supporting mission planning tasks, developing mission plans, execute data collection and own the data chain of custody through ingestion. They must demonstrate strong and credible subject matter expertise, and takes a lead role in initiating, evaluating, and testing new tools/equipment/work practices that will generate a positive Return on Investment for the company, increase the safety of the employees and improve productivity in the work force.


In addition, the Sr. Operations Specialist must demonstrate the ability to understand and proficiently operate a wide range of equipment and tools. Provide “Subject Matter Expertise” as the main point of contact for the AeroLabs Center of Excellence.  Must be a self-starter, responsible, reliable, show initiative, be hardworking, eager to solve challenging equipment errors and adaptable to last minute changes in the field. This candidate will learn a lot quickly in this fast-paced environment which is the perfect trajectory to accelerate expertise to the next level in the Robotic industry.
