PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION Primary role is to assist in forecasting monthly electrical usage to support five-year long range plan ('LRP'); calculating factors for the monthly close; and preparing presentations. Maintain econometric models for use in the forecasting and monthly close process. Econometric modeling is involved along with extensive spreadsheet utilization. The position involves preparing presentations that support the forecast. Forecasting is primarily related to the Company's revenue projections, but also includes involvement in preparing procurement (customer switching) forecasts. Individual will work within a Load Forecasting team environment while interacting with various other departments.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES- Assist in the development, maintenance, and documentation of load forecast models used to generate monthly usage forecasts by customer class. Models are also used in the monthly close process in support of Revenue Accounting. (40%)
- Perform monthly estimating and reporting functions. Monthly information is prepared for use in closing the books. Additionally, various internal reports are created for use in measuring forecast performance and reporting of actual weather-adjusted usage. (25%)
- Prepare numerous presentations throughout the year (with supporting documentation and analysis). Presentations are prepared as needed related to load forecasts updates and quarterly in support of the QMM. A report to the Illinois Power Agency is prepared each July documenting the usage needed for procurement purposes by the IPA. (20%)
- Supporting analysis and ad-hoc requests. (15%)
JOB SCOPE- This position is involved in preparing load forecasts that are used in LRP revenue projections, external load projections and the procurement of approximately $1.0 billion/year of energy. In addition, this position has a direct impact on the company's ability to recover its revenue requirement (e.g., providing weather-adjusted billing units).
- This position has an array of both internal and external contact relationships: Internal relationships include Revenue Accounting and Energy Acquisition. External relationships include entities such as economic vendor (e.g., IHS Economics) or governmental agencies for the purpose of gathering economic data.
- Works jointly with other Exelon utility's load forecasting groups in coordinating Quarterly presentations. Documentation and verification of all deliverables (e.g., forecasts) and associated processes are important.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Education: BS or BA required.
- Experience: Three years employment experience related to the utility industry or other employment involving economics, finance or engineering functions.
- Skills: Strong analytical skills � ability to analyze complex problems using various tools. Strong skills in the use of Excel and database software. (Microsoft Office)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and activities in ambiguous or pressure situations that produce accurate and timely results. Maintain existing suite of econometric models.
- Familiarity with electric utility industry.
- Strong interpersonal skills along with ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written).
- General understanding of factors related to customer usage of electricity.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Education: Course work in economics, statistics or econometrics.
- Experience: Load forecasting experience or forecasting experience in general.
- Skills: A working knowledge of the Company's financial and business practices.
