Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Provide engineering services and technical consultation, requiring professional level knowledge of plant operations and a specialized experience and understanding of the operating principles and design of utility boilers, heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), and associated pressure vessels. Uses independent, professional judgment to trouble shoot and resolve problems associated with procedures, equipment and systems. Identify and implement standard and industry best practices. Periodically verify / equipment maintenance activities against corporate/OEM requirements. Performs and evaluates engineering studies, investigations and root-cause analysis of problems associated with the performance, maintenance and operations of boiler / HRSGs and balance of plant equipment. Keeps abreast of technical developments affecting Company, department and area of expertise.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
1 Provide Technical oversight of fleet wide programs, perform audits and implement best practices.
2 Provide evaluation of OEM recommendations and the ability to discern the applicability of the recommendations based on individual unit operating history and risk assessment.
3 Provide troubleshooting and root cause analysis investigation 10%
4 Define & track maintenance activities and verify requirements are properly documented. 10%
5 Prepare reports, procedures and proposals as required 10%
6 Works towards improving system and component reliability and cost effectiveness 10%
7 Prepare capital project justification, installation oversight, and acceptance testing oversight
8 Interface with plant as the technical expert to optimize equipment material condition and incorporate recommendations
9 Perform all other duties as assigned.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum:
1 Associates Degree with 8+ years professional experience and 3+ years exempt-level experience OR
2 HS Diploma with 10+ years professional experience and 5 years exempt-level experience OR
3 Minimum 8 years experience and 2 years FLS experience
4 Knowledge of applicable discipline codes and standards
5 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal
6 Strong computer skills, including knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Products
Preferred:
1 PE License
2 FLS experience
